Newgrange, Co. Meath

Newgrange is for many one of the most magical place in earth. This ancient burial site was constructed  long before the Pyramids of Egypt or Stonehenge in England and it is without doubt one of the main highlights of the route. This is an ancient temple of astrological, spiritual, religious and ceremonial importance that is declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Trim Castle, Co. Meath

DIRECTIONS

This magnificent fortress  by the River Boyne is the largest Anglo-Normal Castle in Ireland. It featured in Mel Gibson's famous movie Braveheart. You can also visit Ireland's oldest bridge, just by the castle and the picturesque town of Trim.

DIRECTIONS

The Cliffs of Moher are world-renowned for a reason. Its 214 metres above the Atlantic Ocean offer breathtaking views over the vast sea to more than 1,5 million people every year. With thousands of breeding pairs of birds gathered here, it is also known to be a haven for wildlife and a delight for birdwatchers around the world. The Cliffs are a special protected area (SPA) for seabirds.

Kilkenny, Co. Kilkenny

DIRECTIONS

Aran Islands is a really unique place. The 3 islands seem to be stuck in the past. The best way to get there is by ferry. You can park your motorhome or camper van inland and  discover the Islands by bike. There are a couple of bicycle rental companies.

The main island, Inis Mor, is the most popular of the three. It offers unique nature features such as the Worm Hole, a natural rectangular shaped pool that has hosted the Red Bull Cliff Diving Series on multiple occasions. Gleandalough, Co. Wicklow

DIRECTIONS

Kylemore Abbey is considered by many the jewel in the crown of Connemara's landscapes. Not only for the beauty of the building itself but also for its surroundings, history and legends. The Abbey was stablished in the Kylemore Castle by Benedictine nuns who fled IWW in Belgium in 1920 and since then, I has been an educational institution in the most beautiful setting.
